Portugal

D1 work visa (subordinate worker)

First, a Portuguese employer gives you a work contract. You then apply for the D1 visa. After arriving in Portugal, you register with AIMA for your residence permit.

Typical timeline: 60-90 days after a complete file

The employer first gets approval for the job from the Slovak labour office. You then apply for the national visa and work-residence permit. You collect the residence card after arrival.

Stay safe from work visa fraud

A legal work visa needs a real employer and approval from the labour or immigration authority. Do not pay for a "free visa" or travel on a visit visa to work. Ask to see the employer's permit before paying.
